It’s Tuesday! I am joining in the fun, created by Niki at Daydream Reader, called Treat Tuesday, where we snap a quick photo of what we are reading and a treat we are enjoying. And thanks to Shannon (aka Ms. Houghton) for the meme logo seen above. Inspired by my Twitter pal, Maria, I’m including what my kids are enjoying as well. Follow all the treat fun on Twitter under the hash tag #TreatTuesday.

The Books and Our Treat!

With a hectic family schedule and illnesses, we’ve taken a pass on Treat Tuesday the past few weeks, but we’re back!

The Treat — Snickers Bites

Snickers are a personal weakness. I’ll stop with that.

Small (age 8, third grade)

Each Little Bird That Sings, by Deborah Wiles. She is enjoying this realistic fiction title and reports that her favorite character is 10-year old Comfort. Comfort’s family owns a funeral home, which can make for some unusual family gatherings.

Tall (age 11, fifth grade)

Hero’s Guide to Storming the Castle, by Christopher Healy. Tall is hesitant to take my book recommendations, so when she finally does, you know that I do some fist pumps and huzzahs. This is the second in the Hero’s Guide series, both of which I recently shared in her class as the Book Fairy. I think seeing her classmates enjoy the titles so much finally brought her around. Hooray for peer pressure when it comes to reading great books!

Me

Genie Wishes by Elisabeth Dahl. I’ve heard great things about this middle grade novel that talks about the highlights and lowlights of life in fifth grade as seen through the eyes of Genie, the class appointed blogger. It looks to be a funny, yet thoughtful look puberty and tweenhood.

Here’s the trailer . . .

My other recent bookish posts:

Book Fairy Visit to 4th/5th Grade: Zita the Spacegirl Series

Hope you’re savoring whatever you are reading and snacking upon!
